October Must-Haves

Toronto welcomed October today with the perfect autumn breeze – cool enough for layering, which is always the dream. I love autumn and now that the season is in full swing, I can’t wait to do some light shopping to add some updated autumn-approved pieces to my wardrobe.

At the start of each season, I like to give my closet a quick sweep to see what existing pieces can be leveraged throughout the season, as well as which pieces would be welcome additions. 😉 In order to keep myself and my money in check, I allow myself to list out 6 pieces that I feel I would benefit from the most. Apart from the occasional social emergency, I try my best to limit myself to the items on the list. This system has worked wonders for me and I find that it prevents me from getting carried away (most of the time 😉 ).

Here’s what I’m adding to my shopping bag this season:

Zara Batwing Sweater, $45.90 CAD

I saw a photo of Selena Gomez looking so incredibly chic in a simple grey ensemble and knew I had to find something similar. I can’t wait to dress this up with a skirt like she did, or even with trousers at the office or jeans on my days off. A necklace here, or a scarf there – either way, it’s the perfect base.

Olivia Palermo x BaubleBar Pearl Stud Cuff, $38 USD

Olivia Palermo is my all-time favorite and this cuff is the perfect accessory. I love every single piece she has in her recent collaboration with BaubleBar, but I cannot stop thinking about this cuff and the many, many outfits I can wear with it. Blouses, under blazers, over sweater sleeves, paired with cocktail dresses – I really can’t wait. Shout out to my loving boyfriend who likes to spoil me because we’re in a long distance relationship: if this shows up at my doorstep, I’ll gladly accept. 😉

H&M 30 Denier Tights, $14.99 CAD

Skirts/dresses paired with boots/booties are my favorite autumn combination, and tights pull the whole look together. I always find myself picking up a few pairs of tights at H&M to keep in my closet because 1) they’re a great price point and 2) I never fail to destroy them, no matter how careful I am!

Steve Madden

Steve Madden PRAIREE Booties, $139.95 CAD

I always find myself searching for two things once the cooler weather hits: boots and coats. My shoe closet tells me I need an ankle bootie that I can wear on a daily to work and this sleek beauty will do the trick. These will look great paired with skirts/dresses, as well as under flared trousers.

Nordstrom Cape

Trouve Grid Pattern Cape, $137.63 CAD

Ah, the cape/poncho/wrap variety <3. My teenage days were spent oggling over Gossip Girl fashion and my all time Queen B(lair). I currently own a great Mackage zip-up cape, but this piece would be a welcome addition. I can see it worn casually draped like the model, or belted for a more sophisticated look. Either way, it provides warmth and comfort without sacrificing style. The dream.

Zara Metal Detail Ballerinas, $35.90 CAD

I love my heels, but if you’re attempting to look casual-chic, a flat is always foolproof. I love burgundy and the metal detailing is a great addition. I’m looking forward to wearing this with my jeans or when running errands before/after work. 🙂

Now the (secret online) shopping begins!

Would love to hear your thoughts in the comments! xo
