Greetings, friends! I hope everyone is gearing up for NYE and a ton of #NewYearNewMe posts! I, for one, am trying my darnedest to figure out my NYE outfit. I’m normally a lot more prepared, but living out of a suitcase for the holidays really can dampen a girl’s spirit! When I hit these sartorial roadblocks, I find it’s always helpful to build around the outfit via accessories and accompaniments in hopes that my outfit will fall into place.
The items above are my necessities to prepare for/ring in 2016, and here’s why!
Ok, perhaps not the most practical shoe for a cool December’s eve, but these shimmery babies are so fun! Who can deny a little glitter on NYE? Plus I’ll be indoors all night, so why not? I like that these are a nice pale gold – subtly chic!
I have been snapping away memories with my Instax Mini 8 ($88 CAD at Walmart.ca) all year and I cannot wait to capture more fun moments into the wee hours of 2016. I added on the rabbit selfie mirror ($15 CAD on Amazon.ca) because 1) it’s cute AF and 2) selfies are a breeze even after a drink or two (or three).
I returned to Toronto for the holidays and was (sadly) welcomed by green grass and mild weather. Alas, in lieu of a White Christmas, my family had a Wine Christmas. No complaints, but we all know how annoying wine stains are on teeth (especially after a solid 11 bottles). To prepare for NYE, you better believe I’ll be doing a quick whitestrips session to remove Wine Christmas stains (and possibly make way for new ones… What can I say? Nat loves her vino!).
My fragrance of choice has been this super glam Marc Jacobs’ number. Not only is the bottle SO PRETTY, but the scent is equally sensual and glamorous. I will ring in 2016 smellin’ fierce and on a good note. Literally. Look:
Italian Plum, Iris Flower, Saffron, Bulgarian Rose, Jasmine Sambac, Orris, Vetiver, Papyrus Woods, Liquid Amber.
I’m pretty hopeless when it comes to eye makeup, but that’s not to say I don’t appreciate a good palette. I was gifted this baby from my Secret Santa and I can’t wait to try out all the glittery, shimmery goodness! I’m planning to go for a nude lip, via the Pantone Marsala lippie pictured above. I bought it as soon as it hit shelves in December 2014, but this link curates a bunch of great alternatives!
I’d classify myself as a social drinker and I just know that I’ll have very little time to touch up my makeup while I indulge in a cocktail or two. That’s why I like to swap out my everyday Chanel foundation for this Make Up For Ever foundation. It offers amazing coverage and keeps my skin nice and matte, which is perfect for the numerous photo ops I’m sure to participate in!
Aldo ‘Pralboino’ Clutch
$50 CAD$25 CAD
Clearly not the same clutch that I have pictured above (mine is an oldie, but a goodie), however, I wouldn’t mind a fierce clutch like this one. This clutch channels Balmain and for this price, it’ll carry you (literally) all the way through 2016.
I’m so excited to see all of your great NYE looks! Be sure to share some NYE outfit inspo in the comments below and connect with me on social media!
