March Must-Haves

Is March almost over? Yes, but Spring is finally here and there’s still plenty of time to shop (long-weekend included)! March is my birthday month and, while I’m a little depressed to be slowly exiting my 20s, I’ve learned that a little retail therapy always makes me feel better.

Here’s what I’m shopping this month! ❤

Olivia Palermo + Chelsea28 Long Military Vest $221.39 CAD

I’m told I have an unhealthy obsession with Olivia Palermo, but is it really unhealthy when everything she styles is sartorial perfection? I think not. Her collaboration with Chelsea28 at Nordstrom is the perfect collection for transitional Spring, and this vest would be a welcome addition to anyone’s (namely my) closet. Belted or draped; worn over pants, skirts or dresses; and with sleeveless or long-sleeved blouses – it will make a great topper.

Vince Camuto ‘Pinstripe Pal’ Silk Scarf in ‘Night Shadow Blue’ $53.25 CAD

The choker trend is back and I am sad. Why? Because I was not made with a beautiful, model-esque neck. We know not all trends work for everyone, and the choker, in all its cool 90s glory, does not help to give the illusion of an elongated neck. To compensate? The silk square scarf in a great print for spring. I’d wear it as a bow tie knot/loop for that classic/retro glamorous feel. When it gets too hot? Tie that baby around your handbag handle.

Adidas Pure Boost X Training Shoes $130 CAD

Was this the first purchase I made in March? 100% with no regrets. This shoe was released in February to great reviews, and I’m so glad I made the leap (I come from a family of Nike loyalists). These shoes were designed specifically for women and they are comfier than my Nike Flyknits (yes, comfier than Lunarlon!). Amazing arch support and incredibly flexible and versatile. Sure, I can wear them to the gym, but I can also style these for running errands on my days off. That, my friends, is called Winning.

Nail Polish

Formula X #ColorCurators: Cupcakes and Cashmere Edition – Nail Polish in ‘Latte Run’ $16 CAD

I love to get my nails done, but in an effort to save for my upcoming vacations, I’m cutting my manicure budget short. Back to the high school/university way of painting my own nails – a serious First World Problem! I plan on adapting the Formula X nail polish system, and I just know that this collab colour by Sephora and my fave blogger Emily, of Cupcakes and Cashmere fame, is all I will need for Spring. Will this be the first time I ever finish a bottle of nail polish? Quite possibly.

Marc by Marc Jacobs Too Hot to Handle Bentley Satchel $678.35 CAD $508.76 CAD

This may sound unbelievable, but I am in need of a new black purse. Crazy, right? My go-to Kate Spade is nearing tatters and I have my eyes and heart set on this satchel. My various Marc Jacobs bags have lasted me years, and so I just know I’ll be getting my moneys worth with this purse. Am I supposed to be saving? Yes. But cutting out my $40 per manicure every two weeks equals about $960 before tips each year, and this $508 purse still means I’m saving at least $452 a year, not including when I decide to get $60 bio gel manicures. Did I mention this purse will last me years? And did I mention it’s my birthday month? And it’s not like  I’m buying the Prada bag of my dreams (yet). So there. That is how I justify life.

Topshop Botanical Floral Print Belted Dress $95 CAD

My Spring wardrobe is in need of a lift, and while I will never stray from my all-black ensembles (EVEN IN THE SUMMER HEAT), I can certainly appreciate a great pattern. This floral printed dress is an easy win. Dress it up with strappy heels, the right clutch, and maybe even that Olivia Palermo utility vest up yonder, OR with sandals, a floppy hat and the satchel up above that maybe made you think I’m insane.

Tress Press.JPG

Drybar Tame Your Mane $188.00 CAD

I’m not sure how many times, or how many ways, I can say this: the dry, cold Alberta winter ruined my hair. That statement is true AND sad, considering this winter was classified as one of the milder winters to date. With summer coming up, I’m going to be proactive and make sure I have all the necessary tools to make sure I don’t fry my hair, or suffer from frizzy poodle days. This set comes with 100 Proof (treatment oil for dry and damaged hair) and Hot Toddy (Heat and UV Protectant), so considering the Tress Press Titanium Plate hair straightener already retails for $189 CAD on its own, this set is the dream.

Olivia Palermo x Westward Leaning ‘Flower 14’ in Blue Ice Shiny $275 USD

Ok, so maybe I do have an unhealthy obsession with Olivia Palermo, but if I vow to only ever wear Westward Leaning sunglasses for as long as they’re in business, that’s my business. High school Nat is probably rolling her eyes at me behind her Ray-Ban wayfarers and aviators, but I really don’t care. I love Westward Leaning. The silhouettes. The lens. The frame colours. The sustainable resources used in their hand-crafted products. Go ahead, call me a bougie hipster; I probably won’t notice behind my super chic sunnies.

Zara Jacket with Zips $89.90 CAD

If it’s one thing I learned, it’s that I am a hoot when I am inebriated. That statement is relevant when you learn that I ruined my fave leather jacket at a bar and now am desperately seeking a new one. This faux leather jacket from Zara looks and feels way more than its worth. (I went in to the store just to touch it… and now a brand new one is currently on a Purolator truck on its way to Edmonton.) Yeah, that happened.

Bar of Gold

Charlotte Tilbury Bar of Gold $48 CAD

Craig David sings, “You don’t miss your water ’til the well runs dry.” I know he’s singing about heartbreak, but the same emotions and sentiment applied to me the day I learned that the only Holt Renfrew in Edmonton doesn’t stock Charlotte Tilbury. Sure, there are workarounds: 1) the Holt Renfrew website finally takes online orders, and 2) my coworker had a layover in Toronto on her way to Brazil so I made her pop into the Holt Renfrew on Bloor (true story), but I want this Bar of Gold highlighter and I want it now! Also, I could say I got a bar of gold for my birthday. How neat is that?

And there you have it! My birthday wishlist monthly must-haves. What are your thoughts? Be sure to comment below!

Thanks so much for reading! I hope the blogosphere has been treating you well in my mini-hiatus! ❤ ❤ ❤
