Fitness Adventures: Strong by Zumba

strong by zumba.png

Major human confession: My relationship with fitness isn’t the best. Sure, I climbed a mountain to the summit (IG: @readyor.nat has pics to prove it), but if we’re talking consistency and stamina, well… probably count me out. I don’t play group sports. I look like a deer in the headlights at the gym. I can’t run long distances. I once did hot yoga and had severe heat rash on my face for over a week. My idea of fun is watching a Gilmore Girls marathon. Maybe while wearing lululemon so I feel better.

2 weeks into 2017 and I am determined to turn my fitness resolution into a lifestyle. I am holding my cousin/workout buddy accountable, but I’m also sharing the things I’ve been trying with you, blogosphere – because who better to hold me accountable than the World Wide Web? This is a safe, positive, non-judging space, right?

Yesterday, I tried Strong by Zumba – a music-led High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) class. If you haven’t heard about it, fear not. I hadn’t either, until I signed up for a class. I saw the word ‘Zumba’ and thought: Woo! Dance party!

L o l. Not quite.

Shop: The Face Shop

Face Shop Haul.jpg

Once upon a time, Nat was on a mission to check a wedding errand off her list and ended up buying non-wedding related things.

But if we’re talking skincare, then it technically could be considered wedding-related because it is important for any bride to have great skin for their wedding day. See what I did there?

The Face Shop company was created in Korea and, well, considering how flawlessly stunning most Koreans’ skin is, I feel kinda silly that it took me this long to fully appreciate the products. It all started with high praise from a trusted family member regarding the Jeju Volcanic Lava line and the Pore Cleansing Wipes.

I’m the addictive type, so the rest is history.

Follow through the link for details on what I bought – and what is currently in my online shopping cart. Oops.

The Icelandair Stopover

Ok, seriously, I’m so excited for Eurotrip #1 this year. Yes, there is more than one trip this year. Yes, my bank account is crying. No, I don’t have a single regret.

Chris and I are flying to London via Icelandair and decided to take full advantage of the optional stopover in Reykjavik on the way home. Peep the link for itinerary ideas!

Iceland may seem random, but has been on the upward travel trend in recent years.

Because Blue Lagoon.

Because geysers.

Because Skógafoss Waterfall.

I can go on (and I do, after the break)! Sure, accommodations, car rental and food can get pricey, but it’s a price I’m willing to pay to adventure!signature

OOTD 64: Prints Charming

Today, I really, really missed C (my Prince Charming!). To help me cope, I decided to wear all my fave things (and drink wine). From the fur stole, to the printed cuppa button up shirt, plated tips heels, statement necklace and Mindy Kaling/Project inspired printed Marc Jacobs crossbody bag, Nat survived hump day. Happy First OOTD of 2017 to me. ❤ ❤ ❤

Oven Baked Buffalo Cauliflower Bites

I am a serial Pinterest user. I pin, pin, pin all day and all night, but really only try/do/make 10% of all the amazing things I see. Some things are not worth the effort, the time, the cost, or the mental sanity, but some things just have to be done.

Veggies claiming to taste like buffalo chicken bites?

Some things just have to be done.

Keep reading for the tried & true recipe, adapted from Spend with Pennies.

Trick your kids/love/self into eating veggies! Challenge yourself to #MeatlessMondays! Do it for the ‘gram! This recipe requires common pantry ingredients and will fly off the plate before you have the opportunity to snap a stylized pic of the final product. True story.

The Best fitbit Charge 2 Bands

We all know that blogging more consistently is one of my New Year’s Resolutions, but it’s time that I share a slightly more pressing resolution: weight loss.

Yes, I’m one of those Resolutioners, but I can explain.

Exercise scares the living daylights out of me. I grew up with very limited athletic ability/inclination, but I have been trying so hard to lead a healthy lifestyle. I’m kicking it into high gear in 2017 in anticipation of my cousin’s wedding in the UK in April, and hoping I can keep it long-term as I prepare for my own walk down the aisle in 2018.

To motivate myself, I’m switching my watch for the fitbit Charge 2 wristband so that I can monitor my progress. So far, it’s encouraged me to keep my stats up and hold myself accountable – a great start, but…

Fashion wise, fitness wristbands are a huge downgrade.

Enter: First world Problem. Can I wear two watches on one arm? Can I get away with my current wristwear game and maybe hide the fitbit on my other wrist, under my blouse sleeves? Will my fitbit work if I wear it on my ankle like a tracker i.e. LiLo on house arrest?

Such a dilemma. I mean, look how pretty my current set up is! Yes, this may seem like a shameless ring and mani pic, but I’m going somewhere with this, I swear.

Choosing between fashion and function is a serious #FWP.

My fashion conscience and office-working, trend-loving self would never forgive me for wearing the basic black band out in public (gym is acceptable), so, after some research, I present my fave official and after-market straps for the fitbit Charge 2. See all the trendy options that I’m considering after the break. You’re welcome. signature

Golden Globes 2017 Trend: Plunging Neckline

I started a post about my favorite looks from last night’s 2017 Golden Globe Awards and realized they all had one thing in common: the plunging necklineemoji

Trends can be scary when we’re talking about the everyday woman (I’m looking at you, red-dress-wearing women of Nick’s season of The Bachelor!), but when we’re talking about the pros of the red carpet, it is guaranteed to be fiercely creative competition.

Life Lesson: Skip the red dress. Be the shark/”dolphin”.

Many of the glamorous women of Hollywood embraced this trend and, despite their differences or how much I envy them (I’m looking at you, Blake Lively and Jessica Biel, a.k.a. gorgeous wives of my long-time loves, Ryan Reynolds and Justin Timberlake), there is no denying the power of a statement neckline. signature

Must-Watch: Meryl Streep’s Golden Globes 2017 Speech

Happy Monday, blogosphere!

If you have to choose to read/watch/hear/love/breathe/believe one thing, and one thing alone today, I highly recommend Meryl Streep’s Speech as she accepted the Cecil B. DeMille award for Lifetime Achievement at the Golden Globes on Sunday.

Meryl, one of my favorite actresses, used this prestigious platform to speak, not of her career, but of the violent and heinous actions of U.S. President-elect, Donald Trump, the composition of Hollywood’s outsiders/foreigners, and the responsibility of the Press to hold everyone accountable.

As if I wasn’t already in tears from Viola Davis’ beautiful introduction speech, Meryl had to throw me through an emotional loop of awe and straight up empowerment. See the video below, courtesy of @GoldenGlobes on Twitter, and the transcript courtesy of Harper Bazaar after the break:

Pasta la vista, baby!

Greetings, lovelies, and the happiest 2017 to you all!

The New Year is upon us and I solemnly swear to post, post, post.

This April, C and I will be traveling to Italy for the first time, and we cannot wait. Maybe we’re in the midst of planning a wedding and saving a ton of money for it, but maybe we, as late 20-somethings, have to close our eyes and make the trip – because if not now… when?

So, prepare yourself, friends, as the combination of New Year’s Resolutions and sheer packing stress/shopping will surely bring a ton of postspiration. Think: Italy OOTDs, Pasta Eating Remorse, The Struggle of Packing Shoes, and Mental Currency Conversion Calculations. EndlessReady? ❤

Have a peek at pics of the Venice > Florence > Rome circuit C and I will be traveling, and feel free to share some travel tips/musts when in Italy below. signature

Tying the Nat: A Real Wedding

Earlier this year, I wrote about my dream wedding and I made the following statements:

  1. I wouldn’t be getting married anytime soon, and;
  2. I promised an appearance of #Natzilla2020.

Well, I lied;

  1. I am newly and happily engaged!
  2. #Natzilla2018

#2toTantengco is my greatest pun accomplishment to date.

3,688 days of dating was capped by a beautiful ring and the sweetest proposal (in 5 words? ‘Surprise Proposal in our Hometown’), and now here we are: planning our wedding and preparing for the rest of our lives. Like f’realz.

So glad my sissies were in on C’s schemes!

The venue is picked. A date is (basically) set. And I am in full wedding planner mode.

Stay tuned for wedding-related posts because it is slowly taking over my life! For sneak peeks at my early-stage motif development, be sure to follow my Pinterest board:

I hope you’re ready, blogosphere!
